    I believe it’s simplicity. As someone starting an investment firm and is tax accountant. I would advise General Partners to restructure ownership through a holding company. Limited Partnerships investment would be treated as a loan and hurdle/preferred return would be the interest rate to LP company. Then ownership would split 80% Limit Partner Company and 20% General Partners Company aka investment firm. Profits still tax as capital gains

    Good video however your example is not typical real world. The GP is expected to have skin in the game, somewhere between 1-5% (typically 2%) (The capital stack). Also the LP's expect a return over and above their initial investment typically 8% before GP's start to catchup (The hurdle rate). Your example focusses on the carried interest alone which is certainly relevant but not the whole picture. I only comment on this because of the tax incentives that take into account that added context.

    Eric, you forgot to deduct the deferred tax asset from earning before tax (EBT), when EBT is positive. The business should be taxed later than your forecast. Also, should there be a decrease in cash flow when the tax asset accumulate? Such asset will increase cash flow once earnings become positive and tax payment is offset by the asset.

    This is great stuff thanks! Just wandering about 1 thing: The model assumes that subscriptions are monthly, i.e. a customer that hasn't churned comes back next month. How would the model look like for subscribers that come back after 3.5 months on average?

    The organic new customers are NOT gained through the paid channels. So why the blended CAC sensible? All paid advertising cost should belong to paid new customer, shouldn't it?

    • @eric_andrews
      @eric_andrews 22 дня назад

      @@poteimiameso4455 try turning all your paid off and see what happens to organic. It crashes. It's literally impossible to accurately track your paid performance right now with all of the changes in data tracking. That’s why it's important to track CAC in various ways to try to estimate it.

    Hi Eric, first of all thanks for the video, great explanation! I wonder though if the profitability you explain around 16:10 is correct? Wouldn't break even occur during month 2 as the profits cummulate vs the one time cac? 33+65+95=193>115

    @lilbrusselsprout8261 Месяц назад

    Hey Eric, very helpful, thanks. Question for you: If my product offers only 6 month and 12 month memberships, I'm assuming looking at one year wouldn't really give you a great picture of retention since each customer doesn't have the opportunity to churn every month. That being said, 1) How many years would you recommend looking back to get a good picture of the company's retention 2) Would you break these tables out separately for 6 month memberships and 12 month memberships? Any other insights on longer term contracts and how to analyze them would be extremely valuable, thank you. Edit: one more question. Since sales commission is technically an expense related to acquiring customers, would you put that expense into CAC and exclude it from gross margin calculations? In other words if I give 10% sales commission on a $100 product, I wouldn't deduct $10 from the $100 to get gross margin but would instead add $10 to my CAC, correct?

      They are locked into contracts, but terms vary. I sell Immigration Legal Services, so you could sign up for a $10,000 service, pay $2,000/month for 5 months then we send your application to USCIS (the government) to be reviewed and either "Approved" or "Denied". But its realistic we don't receive an answer of approval or denial for 6 to 12 months. This is where i'm getting stuck on how to calculate the churn.

      @michaelstopperich8528 yes the thing you're getting stuck on is you are trying to use "churn rate" for a business that is not a subscription. I have a video on this here but basically i would just be focused on LTV per customer, churn only really applies to subscription businesses where people are actively canceling the service which is different ruclips.net/video/2QY_1ATyTOU/видео.htmlsi=xr67SIQU2H0tSRsX
